When the Miele in the laundry room stops
It tends to happen on a Monday. The weekend bedding is waiting, a PW 6131 that has run for years shows a fault code, and by mid-morning the care home laundry has a backlog of sheets, towels and residents’ clothing the second machine cannot clear alone.
Repair, replace like for like, or step up in capacity? Send us the model, the fault and your daily volumes and we will give you a plain answer, even if that answer is a repair by your local engineer rather than a machine from us.
Miele Professional series we supply and refurbish
PWM: the current compact generation
Miele’s current compact machines, the new generation of Little Giants. The PWM 507 (7 kg) and PWM 908 (8 kg) spin at 1600 rpm, G-factor 704, on 230 V or 400 V. Supplied new.
PW 5000: the earlier compact series
The PW 5062 and PW 5065 (6.5 kg, 59-litre drum) are the previous compact generation, found in many care homes, salons and small hotels, and the backbone of our refurbished Miele stock.
PW 6000: 10 kg and above
The larger washer extractors. The PW 6101 (10 kg) and PW 6131 (13 kg) come through our workshop regularly; the PW 6163 (16 kg) and PW 6243 (24 kg) are available new, including steam-heated versions.
Older series and Miele tumble dryers
Older WS washers such as the WS 5100, and PT and T-series dryers such as the PT 5136 and PT 8257, still work hard in many laundries. We refurbish them and can check parts for units you already own.

New or refurbished Miele: how to choose
- Choose new for current controls and the highest spin: G-factor 704 on the PWM machines leaves less water in the linen and shortens drying. Also the route for a specific heating type, such as steam on a PW 6163.
- Choose refurbished if capital is tight, if you are replacing like for like, or if you need a machine sooner than a new unit on order (availability confirmed per machine). Wear parts such as bearings, seals and door gaskets are checked and replaced where needed, and every machine is run under load before dispatch.
- Either way, the quote states the known condition, the work done, connection values and warranty terms for that unit.

Independent, and clear about it
We use the Miele name to describe the machines we sell, nothing more. Technorette is not an authorised Miele dealer in the UK and is not part of Miele’s own service organisation. In the Netherlands we service Miele Professional machines independently, with our own engineers and workshop.

Miele Professional washing machines: questions from UK buyers
Are you an authorised Miele dealer in the UK?
No. Technorette is an independent specialist based in Apeldoorn, the Netherlands. We supply new and refurbished Miele Professional machines and service Miele machines independently in the Netherlands, but we are not part of Miele’s UK dealer or service network. For a Miele-backed UK service contract, go to Miele or one of its UK dealers.
Which Miele commercial washing machine suits a care home?
It depends on your daily volume. Smaller homes often run 6.5 to 8 kg machines such as the PW 5065 or PWM 908; larger homes 10 to 16 kg PW 6000 washer extractors such as the PW 6131 or PW 6163. Tell us your kilos per day and the disinfection programmes you work to (for example under HTM 01-04) and we will suggest machines. Infection control remains your responsibility.
What is the difference between the PW 5000 series and the current PWM machines?
PWM is Miele’s current compact generation: 1600 rpm, G-factor 704, updated controls. The PW 5000 series (PW 5062, PW 5065) is the previous 6.5 kg generation. A refurbished PW 5000 costs considerably less; a new PWM extracts more water and offers newer controls.
How much less does a refurbished Miele washer extractor cost than a new one?
In our current range, a refurbished washer extractor is on average around 60% below the list price of a comparable new washer extractor, up to two-thirds on larger machines. Comparable means a current new model with the same load capacity, usually the next generation (September 2026). Your quote sets the machine against its new equivalent.
Can you help with an older Miele machine we already own?
Often, yes. Send the model, serial plate and fault and we will tell you whether a repair looks worthwhile and whether we can source the parts. The repair itself is usually done by your local engineer; a visit from us is possible by arrangement, quoted in advance.
Does a refurbished Miele Professional machine come with a warranty?
Warranty terms are agreed per machine and set out in the quote, so you know what is covered before you order.
Do Miele Professional washing machines need a 3-phase supply?
Not always. The PW 5062 LP in our stock runs on single-phase 220 to 240 V, and PWM machines connect at 230 V or 400 V. PW 6000 washer extractors such as the PW 6101 and PW 6131 need 3-phase 400 V. We send the connection values for each unit before you order.
Do you also supply Miele tumble dryers?
Yes. Refurbished PT and T-series dryers such as the PT 5136 (6.5 kg) and PT 8257 (10 to 13 kg), and new models such as the PDR 914 EL. Refurbished dryers are well below the new price.
How does delivery to the UK work?
By road and sea from Apeldoorn, with route, timing and unloading agreed in the quote. No Dutch VAT is charged on an export; as the importer you pay UK import VAT and any duty and need a GB EORI number. The installation must meet UK water fittings rules; we send the specifications in advance. This is not tax advice: check with your accountant or customs agent.
